A must for the new teacher and a great refresher course for the experienced teacher.  Learn about the value of meaningful learning through play.

CDES 121 A  Intro.to Early Childhood Teaching (2) Pre-req. CDES 122, and to be taken with co-requisite CDES 121 B.

Course offered at our nationally recognized Child Development Lab School classroom. What a fun class!  Come ready to participate in many aspects of the classroom  A great intro. into real life experiences of an assistant in the preschool classroom.

CDES 121 B Introduction to Early Childhood Lab (1)

These two courses are taken simultaneously in the same semester

CDES 122 Principles of Early Childhood Ed. (3) Attend, read study and learn the principles of creating an early childhood classroom which includes the how-to of working with children and parents. Every semester, day and evening  
CDES 123 A EC Art Education (2) Come an experience the joy of the arts, find out how to bring this into the early childhood classroom in a way that supports the young child. Day courses include class experiences with the "real children".

CDES 123 B EC Language and Literacy Education (2) Wow, the world of language and literature is so exciting to children. Come and experience children's literature as well as language and literacy information that will support your work.  Experience with children at our Lab School is a part of the day courses. Once or twice a semester, 8 week session, morning, afternoon and eve, sometimes Saturday, Sunday  

CDES 123 C EC Science and Math Education (2) Whether math or science is your subject or not, take this course to learn about the rich experiences you can offer to and with children to help them build a strong foundation in math and sciences.  Observations and time at our Child Development Lab School are included.  Take a look at the recent 123 C students in action on the CDES website.  http://childdev.fullcoll.edu/

CDES 238 Seminar in Contemporary Curriculum Design (3)  Pre-req. 115 Intro. to Curriculum

 Reggio inspired course in advanced curriculum design, learn how to observe, document and create high level curriculum and processes in your classroom.  Excellent course for new or experienced educators.  Inspired by the Italian early childhood programs in Reggio Emilia, Italy.  Your mind will open up to excellence and possibilities in this course.  This course is a must for the ece teacher and is required for acceptance into 225 Student Teaching at our Child Development Lab School.

 A must take course for the early elementary focused teacher as well!
